Biocompatible

The PSiO Light is biocompatible !

The power supplied to the diodes contained in the PSiO is continuous. In contrast to 99% of the diodes contained in all devices currently on the market which are controlled with a PWM mode.

Experts suspect that high PWM modulation would have a harmful influence on the nerve cells that lead the light influx via the retinal receptors to the brain.

By using PSiO (DC powered), users concerned about the current frequency environment therefore have the insurance that the PSiO light influx acts like a natural light source.

As such, PSYCHOMED is a member of the "International Light Association," an association of leading researchers in the field of chromo stimulation.

What is PWM ?

Pulse-width modulation (PWM) is a modulation technique that conforms the width of the pulse (formally the pulse duration) based on modulator signal information. It is frequently used with LED technology to vary the transmitted power. This is generally a solution of simplicity which enables considerable energy savings and that helps avoid the development of complex and expensive electronic circuits capable of fluctuating the voltage or current in the circuit.

The frequency of the signal will depend on the application. The LED's frequency must be greater than 100Hz for the human eye not to perceive the flickers. The frequencies of the PWM signal can now go up to hundreds of kHz. But the higher the frequency, the higher the electrical losses at the instant of switching.
